What to Expect.
Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church, or just checking things out — you’re welcome here.
What if I’ve been hurt by church before?
We hear you. We know church hurt is real — many of us have lived through it. While no church is perfect, we want to be a place where grace is bigger than shame, and Jesus is the center of everything. Whether you find your church home here or somewhere else, we want to see the Seacoast radically transformed by the Gospel. And we’re here for you.
What makes Awaken Great Bay different?
We’re not a production — we’re a people. We hang out in the lobby, we linger during greeting time, and grace abounds. Expect coffee, occasional treats, and lots of laughter and real conversations.
Do you host anything for newcomers?
Yes! Each quarter, we host a “New to Awaken Great Bay” gathering after second service. It’s a chance to meet the pastors, staff, and board — and ask questions to help you discern if AGB could be your church home.
How do I get more connected?
Fill out a Connect Card (physical or online), or talk to someone at the Connect Desk in the lobby. Whether you’re looking to meet a pastor, join a group, or explore serving — we want to walk with you as you take your next steps.
Will I be singled out as a visitor?
No way. Just come and be at rest.
What if I have a baby?
We have a Cry Room right next to the service with a TV and audio stream, so you won’t miss anything while caring for your little one.
Do you have a kids ministry?
Yes! It’s called Kid’s Harbor, for children ages 6 months to 10 years and offered at our 10:30am service every Sunday.
It’s split into:
•Nursery (6 months – 3 years)
•Preschool (3.5 – 5 years)
•Elementary (5 – 10 years)
Each group has age-specific worship, crafts, and Bible stories, all centered on the Gospel and helping your kids feel loved and engaged.
Is anything expected of me during service?
Not at all. We encourage guests to simply rest and receive. We take communion once a month, and while giving is a regular part of our worship, we don’t expect guests to give.
What about the teaching?
Our teaching is verse-by-verse, expository preaching, working through entire books of the Bible — even the hard parts. Sermons are about 45 minutes to an hour, always pointing back to Jesus and how the Gospel transforms our everyday lives.
What's the music like?
We worship with a contemporary band — drums, keys, guitar, sometimes even violin — and a mix of modern worship songs and the occasional classic or hymn.
What’s the atmosphere like?
You’ll be greeted with a smile, and there’s coffee or tea waiting for you. The space is warm, welcoming, and open to people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Whether you’re full of faith or full of questions, we want you to feel at rest and experience the hope of the Gospel.
Where is Awaken Great Bay located?
We’re at 23 Cataract Ave in Dover, NH, in the back building of the old McIntosh College. You’ll see signs guiding you.
Heads up: Parking is currently all dirt and a bit messy due to local construction, but we do have a flow — and we’re hopeful improvements are on the way soon.
What should I wear?
Whatever you have! Seriously — just come clothed. There’s no dress code here.
Do I need to sign up or RSVP to attend?
Nope — just come! We’re excited to meet you.
What time are Sunday services, and how long are they?
We gather every Sunday at 8:30 AM for a family service and 10:30 AM with Kid's Ministry provided. Each service lasts about 90 minutes.
